Despite
the regrettable
cancellation of the Stockholm race, the Red Bull
Air Race World Series continues, with Rotterdam now
the next stop on the calendar on 19 and 20 July.
A late change to the location of the race area in Stockholm impacted the Red Bull Air Race flight operations thus compromising the safety and quality of the race. Despite all efforts to ensure the race would go ahead, Red Bull Air Race has made the decision to withdraw the application.
The first European stop of the season will also mark an eagerly awaited return to the magnificent Dutch port city that hosted a thrilling race in 2005. American Mike Mangold, the defending champion who is looking to jump start his faltering 2008 campaign after finishing a depressing and penalty-marred fourth in Detroit, will be happy to be back in Europe and especially Rotterdam, where he turned his 2005 season around and started a great run that took him to the first of his two championships.
